This strategy reflects over 15 years of experience through the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program and was shaped by the voices of home visitors, supervisors, and program leaders nationwide.

Together, we have created a clear and actionable roadmap to grow, strengthen, and sustain the home visiting workforce ensuring it is skilled, supported, and positioned to help families and communities thrive.”

The Power of Home Visiting

Research shows home visiting has lasting, positive effects on maternal and family well-being outcomes years after services are delivered.

The National Strategy will:

Why Now?

The home visiting field stands at a crossroads. The demand for home visitors is rapidly increasing, combined with an urgent need to improve working conditions, provide adequate compensation, and build clear career pathways.

  • 74% report medium or high burnout
  • ~5% of eligible families served
  • 61–75% report recruitment challenges
  • 1:315 home visitor per eligible households
